5 Best Chicago Spring Events - Early Spring 2016

Chicago Beer Festival

Temps are in the 60s, which means Chicago is waking from its slumber! Spring is here, the patio chairs are coming out, and Big Star is packed. (OK, Big Star is always packed).

What are we looking forward to this March? Why should you be here with us? Here's a peak at the top Chicago spring events in March and April:

St. Patrick's Day Parade

March 12

Can it be a mess? Yes. But it wouldn't be a Chicago spring without it, and it's also a heck of a fun. Catch a glimpse of the river in emerald, and enjoy all the bagpipes and drum corps your heart desires in the parade and in unnofical appearences around the city. Find a great Irish Pub (and to be honest, it's hard NOT finding one in this town) and enjoy a Guiness. If you don't like the crazy scene, we suggest migrating to a pub outside of the downtown area, like Grafton's in Lincoln Square, a secret gem of a neighborhood.

Shamrock Shuffle

April 3

If you're a runner you'll want to experience this race, the world's largest 8k with more than 40,000 runners striding through the city. It's a rare way to see the city on foot without having to committ to a full 26.2!

Chicago Flower and Garden Show

March 12 - 20

From Timeout Chicago:  "Spring's imminent arrival takes the form of displays of flora at Navy Pier. Visitors can sit in on instructional seminars, walk through manicured gardens, purchase plant-related souvenirs at the market and obtain culinary tips from chefs at cooking demonstrations. The Kid's Activity Garden offers hands-on projects for kids, like learning how to plant seeds and grow vegetables."

Whiskeyfest Chicago

March 18

It's pricey, but if you are a whiskey conasour, the longest-running festival of this kind is a must, with more than 350 whiskies to taste!
